Position Summary:

The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for insuring the smooth operation of the organizations voice and data network in order to provide maximum performance and availability.  The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures at all branches, including the corporate data center and Bridge2 Headquarters.  The Sr. Network Engineer provides high-level technical support for voice and data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards.  Sr. Network Engineer also works on projects as a project team member as required.  The Sr. Network Engineer must be well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems. This position requires excellent problem management, troubleshooting and customer service skills.  Sr. Network Engineer is part of a technical solutions design team tasks with designing technical solutions to meet business needs.


Role and Responsibilities 


  • SME in the area of LAN/WAN design and administration.  Expert troubleshooting skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco Networking and UC HW platforms and solutions
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical reference architecture as well as solution design.  
  • Ability to perform capacity planning.  Knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Deep understanding of network security.
  • Day to day Operations
  • Oversee all aspects of corporate communication infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Voice, UC).
  • Manage the day-to-day operations as part of the IT Infrastructure group including work prioritization, incident, problem and change management, reporting service levels, defining and tracking IT operational metrics and provide status to management.
  • Plan for any production changes by following the companies IT Change Management process.
  • Work closely with IT Security team to insure overall security of network and systems infrastructure including information hosted on those systems.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of companies IT’s Disaster Recovery plan, including insuring that Network Architecture supports a viable and executable DR strategy.

 Standards and Procedures: 

  • Develop and implement hardware and software standards for network, IP telephony and wireless technology.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for effective management of companies Network infrastructure.
  • Insure IT maintains up to date, accurate and complete set of inventory data for all Network Infrastructure assets.
  • Helps set and maintain a Hardware refresh process.
  • Helps ensure patch and firmware levels are maintained across platforms.
  • Establish and implement 'best-practice' standards as well as departmental policies and procedures and insure they are well understood and staff is trained in following them
  • Assure all systems are properly being monitored


Qualification Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required to success in this position. 

  • Minimum of 10+ years of direct IT experience supporting a large network environment
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls 5520, 5525x, 5535x
  • Cisco Catalyst switching 3750 and QOS
  • Cisco Nexus 5000 and 9000 series
  • Cisco UCS
  • Cisco MDS blade switching
  • A10 or F5 Load Balancing Experience LTM, GTM and WAF
  • Experience using Web application firewalls
  • MPLS network design and support
  • Dynamic Routing protocols to include OSPF EIGRP BGP
  • STP and VTP experience
  • HSRP and VRRP experience
  • Deep understanding of clustering and high availability
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills in previously mentioned areas
  • Understanding of ITIL, including experience participating in CAB and TAB meetings representing Network area
  • Capability and experience to lead large projects independently as well as participating in multi-phase projects
  • Team player, able to work with other IT teams in a dynamic, fast moving IT Department
  • Ability to analyze data and produce management level reports to enable quick and accurate decision-making.
