Position Summary:

The Manager of Database Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing the database engineering team and addressing all data needs for the company (operations, order management, sales, etc.).

The job functions include, but are not limited to, performing MS SQL Server queries for data extraction, reporting, and performing data conversions (small scale ETL) from several data sources. Also, responsibilities include troubleshooting data, researching order management issues, and data quality control. In depth knowledge of setting up setting up SQL High Availability on virtual environments for highly transactional OLTP databases. Operational knowledge of MariaDB or MySQL databases. As team manager, you will also be responsible for leading a team of 4 – 5 database administrators/engineers, fostering team cohesion, setting the direction for database design & strategy, and managing all aspects of employee performance.



  • Monitor, review, verify processes, and databases to ensure orders are updated correctly and identify any data issues.
  • Oversee data retention policies as well as database management best practices.
  • Setup and maintain SQL 2012 and SQL 2016 Availability Groups taking advantage of read replicas.
  • Setup and administer MariaDB or MySQL databases.
  • Write queries and stored procedures in SQL, exports data into excel or csv files, reviews them for quality and data integrity, and send them to internal clients and external suppliers.
  • Analyze internal and supplier data and interpret findings to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Manage a team of Database Administrators to maintain data as necessary.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation as required pertinent to problems and errors produced by database processes and applications.
  • Coordinate various business improvement initiatives by applying excellent analytical and problem resolution skills.



  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with database production support on medium /large environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing senior level DBA team.
  • Must demonstrate Business Knowledge and Technical Knowledge in SQL 2012 and up as well as MariaDB/MySQL database engines
  • Analytical/Decision Support Capability
  • Minimum of 10 years administering MS SQL Server environment.
  • Minimum 5 years with database architecture on virtual environment.
  • Experience working with Databases to analyze data (SQL Scripting, IDERA Diagnostic Manager, etc.)
  • Experience with report development and maintenance using SSRS and SSAS.
  • Experience with maintaining and developing SSIS packages.
